WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF A DAMAGED

ALTERNATOR?

The most obvious indication of a faulty device is an LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD, DESCRIBED AS "BATTERY CHARGING PROBLEM". If it lights up, the voltage supplied to the battery is incorrect.

The voltage supplied by the alternator should be in the range of 13.8-14.5 V (unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer). Too low leads to rapid discharge of the battery. Too high, in turn, can lead to its rapid damage.
